Desmo Donté

I joined the Hollywood-based, goth-funk group Desmo Donté early in 1997. At that time the line-up included Riccardo Boccanegra on vocals, Watts Yoshizawa on drums, Killjo on guitar, and myself on bass. The band quickly became my family, in the most sincere sense of that word. We played a handful of shows and then frantically recorded an album (Divinity, Soul, Ritual) over that summer. Although I moved to New York in the Fall of 1997, I continued to play bass with the group and would frequently fly back to LA for shows or recording opportunities.

Desmo Donte

Desmo Donté also recorded a number of songs for compilations, including the song “DJ” for a David Bowie tribute album and “Into the Sun” for a Dracula tribute album (naturally).

Desmo Donté went through another iteration or two since my time with them. They released an album (Plasma Junkie) with completely different material and an entirely different line-up, excepting my brother Riccardo Boccanegra who has moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Last I heard, Watts was living in Long Beach and Killjo was living in Hollywood. I am now ensconced in Phoenix, Arizona.
